Talks Resume Today In 229-Day Old Strike By Essex County Library Workers

Talks resume today to try and end the 229-day old strike by Essex County library workers.

The union, CUPE local 2974, called the library board back to the bargaining table and the board agreed.

The main issue has been third party coverage for short-term disability.

Both sides were optimistic heading into today's talks.

58 full-time and part-time workers have been off the job since last June.

All 14 Essex County library branches have been closed since the strike began.
