Teachers' Union Launches Legal Action Over Sex-Ed
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario has filed legal action over the current sex-ed curriculum.
ETFO President Sam Hammond says the union has filed a legal injunction to ensure the 2015 health and physical education curriculum remains in place.
He says the union also hopes to stop the provincial government's new snitch line.
Hammond says the union had no other choice.
"ETFO is forced to take this action because students need information and answers to their questions, to deal with the realities of 2018," says Hammond. "Our union, ETFO along with community groups and thousands of Ontario residents and parents have raised this issue of concern with the government publicly."
The PC government scrapped the modern version that included how to handle online bullying and sexting and reverted back to the 1998 curriculum.
