Tecumseh Experiencing Garbage Delays
There are still garbage collection delays in Tecumseh.
Councillor Andrew Dowie says he's heard from a number of residents, asking why the delays are happening.
As heard on AM800 news last month, LaSalle, Lakeshore and Leamington have also been experiencing delays.
At that time, LaSalle Mayor Ken Antaya stated Windsor Disposal Services (WDS) sent staff home due to the heat as well the company was experiencing a labour shortage.
Dowie says staff from Tecumseh are in discussions with WDS and are getting the same response as LaSalle did.
Garbage pickup is delayed once again for some residents. WDS will be completing unfinished streets in the morning. I regret the inconvenience and am not pleased that this issue continues to persist. #Tecumseh #Ward1— Andrew Dowie (@Andrew_Dowie) August 3, 2018
"Even though I have personally seen their ads for new positions, they don't seem to have a handle on the staffing just yet because we continue to experience these delays," says Dowie.
He says there are many questions WDS needs to answer.
"Are there enough vehicles, are enough staff on the road and are they complying with the service standards that have been set out," says Dowie. "That's for the town's administration to look into and they have been, they've had discussions with WDS. I have no doubt that we'll find a resolution, it seems to be taking a long long time to get to a resolution."
Dowie says the delays are between one to two days — and if there is a delay in garbage pick-up, there is usually a delay for recycle pick-up.
