Tigers and Jays Winners

The Detroit Tigers surrendered six home runs and still beat the New York Yankees 12-11 at Comerica Park.  

Harold Castro singled in the tying run in the seventh inning and Jordy Mercer's RBI single in the ninth won it.  

Christin Stewart hit a two-run homer and Jeimer Candelario went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Tigers.  Joe Jimenez got the win.  

Brett Gardner and Didi Gregorius homered twice, and Gleyber Torres and Edwin Encarnacion also went deep for New York, which led 6-0 in the second inning.

Chance Adams took the loss.  The Yankees are tied with the Twins for the MLB single-season home run record with 276.

In other MLB action at Rogers Centre Tuesday, Rowdy Tellez hit a go-ahead two-run shot in the fifth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-3.

Cavan Biggio and Reese McGuire also went deep as the Blue Jays (56-89) ended a season-high seven-game losing streak.
