Tigers Dump Dodgers 6-1

Justin Verlander took a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Tigers dropped the Dodgers 6-1 at Comerica Park.  Verlander struck out nine over eight innings of one-run, two-hit ball as he upped his record to 9-and-8.

Justin Upton's two-run homer capped a four-run sixth inning for the Tigers, who avoided a three-game sweep.

Dixon Machado and Miguel Cabrera added two-run doubles in the victory.

Curtis Granderson went deep for LA's only run.

The Dodgers had their six-game winning streak snapped.

The Tigers are off today.  They will open up a three-game series against the New York Yankees tomorrow at Comerica Park.

Matthew Boyd will get the ball for Detroit.  New York will counter with right-hander Masahiro Tanaka.
