Tigers Earn A Split Against The Yankees

James McCann and Jeimer Candelario had RBI doubles in the fourth inning to snap a 1-all tie and the Tigers went on to beat the Yankees 4-2 in the nightcap of a day-night doubleheader in Detroit.  

Victor Martinez added another RBI double in the seventh as the Tigers split the makeup twinbill.  

Mike Fiers pitched five-and-two-thirds innings of two-run ball for his fifth win.  

Shane Greene closed it out for his 15th save.  

Yesterday afternoon, the Yankees smacked three home runs in a 7-4 win over the Tigers in the first of a makeup, day-night doubleheader in Detroit.  

Drew VerHagen surrendered seven runs in less than four innings to take the loss.  Nicholas Castellanos went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Tigers.

Detroit opens a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at home tonight.   Artie Lewicki gets the start for the Tigers and the Red Sox will send Steven Wright to the mound.
