Tigers Fall to the Yankees

Domingo German and four relievers combined on a two-hitter as the New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers 3-1 in the Bronx in MLB action on Monday.  

German allowed just one hit and one unearned run while walking five and striking out seven over five innings for the win.

Aroldis Chapman finished up for his first save.  Brett Gardner and Gary Sanchez hit solo homers to pace the Yankee offense.

Christin Stewart scored on throwing error by Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez in the fourth.  

Tyson Ross allowed all three runs, but just two earned, in five frames to take the loss.

Jordy Mercer had both hits for Detroit in defeat.

Jordan Zimmermann gets the start Tuesday night for Detroit while New York sends Masahiro Tanaka to the mound.
