Tigers Pound Pirates 10-0
Justin Verlander flirted with his third career no-hitter as the Tigers blanked the Pirates 10-0 in Detroit. Verlander fired eight innings of one-hit, shutout ball to secure the win.
Josh Bell broke up the no-no with a double in the sixth. Ian Kinsler homered for Detroit and added a bases-clearing double.
Nicholas Castellanos chipped in with a bases-clearing triple and five RBI as the Tigers ended a four-game skid. Ivan Nova took the loss for Pittsburgh.
Bell finished with two of the Pirates' three hits in defeat. Pittsburgh's three-game winning streak came to an end.
