Tigers Thump Angels in Detroit

Matthew Boyd gave up just run one over six innings to help the Detroit Tigers shut down the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 10-3 in Detroit.

Ronny Rodriguez came up a homer shy of the cycle, but drove in four in four at bats.

Boyd, who upped his record to 4-and-2 on the year, was tagged for a lead off homer by LA's David Fletcher, but gave up just two hits and struck out six after that.

Detroit has won four of seven MLB games.

Jonathan Lucroy homered and had a run-scoring double in the ninth for the Angels, who have lost three of four.

Tyler Skaggs was tagged for eight runs in four and two thirds for his third loss of the season.

Ryan Carpenter is scheduled to get the start for the Tigers in Thursday's rubber match.
