Transit Windsor's Student Discount Returns For March Break
Transit Windsor fares are once again being discounted for students during March break.
Executive Director Pat Delmore says the student fare will be $1 for the entire week. (March 11 to March 17)

He says it's a chance for students who normally don't use the service to experience public transit.
"It's a great opportunity for students to get out and use the service on a week that's predominantly a lower ridership week for Transit Windsor because there are no schools," says Delmore. "But it gives them a chance to get out and do a few things while they're off too and it's a chance for us to say thank-you to the community for our students for their ridership throughout the year."
Delmore says many students have taken advantage of the deal over the years but last year student ridership during March break was down a bit.
"The last year though the numbers did decrease and that was because of the implementation of the U-Pass," says Delmore. "So the students from the university, they have their passes now so they no longer ride with the loonie fare for that week."
Delmore is encouraging students to ride the bus next week.
"It's an opportunity for someone that doesn't normally use Transit to get out, try it, give it a ride, go to a destination," says Delmore. "It's a great opportunity right now for people to try out our new technology that's out there."
The discounted rate excludes the tunnel bus and special events bus.
Students must show a valid student card to get the deal.
The regular fare for students is $3.
