Trucker Charged With Failing To Move Over For Emergency Vehicle

A truck driver has been charged with failing to move over for an emergency vehicle on the 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The OPP was conducting a traffic stop on the highway near Duart Rd. Sunday around 11:30am.

A second OPP cruiser was also stopped behind the first cruiser and noticed an eastbound tractor trailer did not slow down or move over for the emergency vehicle.

The truck driver was stopped and the Brampton driver was charged with driving after 14 hours on duty without 8 hours off and failing to slow down and proceeding with caution for an emergency vehicle.

Fines for a conviction range from $400 to $2,000 for a first offence.
