TWEPI Gearing Up For A Busy Season
Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island is ready for a busy summer season.
CEO Gordon Orr says work is on-going to get word out about what the area has to offer when friends and family come to visit. "What we want to do is make sure Windsorites, and our friends in the county, are charged with the information of what we have to offer as tourism infrastructure. So when they come to visit, you get them off the living room couch, away from the dining room table and get out and explore some of the wonderfully festival and events we have, or some of the wonderful tourist attractions we have."
Orr says local wineries and craft breweries are popular destinations with four more breweries set to open this year. "Our wineries, we find that our craft brewery business, it's on the cusp of four more opening this year. We've got the small batch distillery at Wolfhead. So our Barrels, Bottles and and Brews programs works very well. Our Epic Wine Passport, which if for the 18 wineries that are in the area."
Orr made the comments to Essex Town Council. He will be making nine more presentations to the local municipal councils over the next few months to update the state of tourism.
