Unplugged Festival Ready to Roll on Pelee Island

It's the sixth year for The Island Unplugged Music Festival

Twelve performers, including local acts: Andrew MacLeod and Leigh Wallace, Ron Leary Sextet, and Flower Face will join Juno-nominated artist Daniel Romano of Welland, Ont. over two days beginning Friday night.

The music festival usually runs Saturday and Sunday, but Artistic Director Rod Strickland says the days have been shifted back this year to give people an extra day to unwind.

"Sunday is a little more laid back and people here like to go to the beach ... so we thought we'd give them Sunday to relax and enjoy the island," he says.

Strickland says the weekend is always about more than music.

"There's lots of food on site here and there will be lots to do, bring your bathing suit because we're right across from the best beaches on the island," added Strickland. "There will be ferries running late at night to take people home and also, there's a free shuttle bus on the island that will get you to and from the ferry docks so you don't need to bring your car."

Gates open at 12pm Friday with the first act ready to hit the stage at 6pm.

Tickets are $30 on Friday and $40 Saturday.
