UPDATE: First Baby Born In Windsor-Essex For 2018
Windsor-Essex has one more resident.
Skylar Quiring is the first baby of 2018 in Windsor-Essex after being born at 2:22 am Monday morning.
The New Year's baby born to Windsor Regional Hospital's Met Campus weighs 8 lbs. 6 oz.
New mom Christina Quiring tells CTV Windsor she's suprised they're the first ones of 2018 in the region.
"It's kind of suprising. I didn't think I'd be the first one, just because there were so many other people."
First time dad Andrew Wallace Abbot says it was a big day.
"A lot of excitment. It was a little bit scary at the beginning. Just getting the baby out, that took a while."
Abbot says he just wants the best for his little girls future.
"That she just gets to do whatever she wants to do, be what ever she wants to be. Make her own choices."
As the first new parents of 2018 the couple recieves a congradulatory package with new blanket, gift cards and clothing from the hospital inside.
