VIDEO: Accessible Playground Opens At Harmony In Action
Let the playing begin at Harmony in Action in Windsor.
The organization which provides day, evening and weekend activities for adults with special needs, officially opened its accessible playground Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The $300,000 specialized equipment includes colourful picnic tables, swings, a teeter totter and climbing equipment.
"It is amazing because you know with other parks, it is hard for everyone to be included," says Harmony in Action staff member Katie Vasily. "But here you can tell everybody is able to have fun and feel included and enjoy themselves and with the exercise you can see they are just having a great time."
Harmony In Action Participant Lisa Serran loves the new equipment.
"It really is a lot of fun. I really like the exercise equipment," she says. "It is great. It has abled me to be more active in my physical activity."
For some of the participants, it is the first time they have been able to play on a playground.
