VIDEO: Belle Isle Roaring as Grand Prix Starts
It's race day on Belle Isle.
The Detroit Grand Prix continues Saturday with numerous events including the first stage of the Dual in Detroit Indy Car races.
Alexander Rossi was fastest in practice yesterday followed by Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon, Will Power and Graham Rahal.
Canadian James Hinchcliffe was 8th followed by last week’s winner of the Indy 500, Simon Pagenaud.
Friday was Free Prix Day where people could get on the island for no charge to watch practice and qualifying.
Greg brought a few friends to see the action.
"I dragged them here sort of. I've been here before. It was fun, it's free it's a nice day."
Terry is a race fan out for the action.
"I like the people, I like the sound of the cars. I wish we could see more but they closed the bridge off so people wouldn't hang out there."
Guy plans to be on the island all weekend adding he loves the course.
"I think just the track, it being so tight. then having these cement barriers, there's no room for error here."
The Dual in Detroit goes Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
Other events Saturday include the Chevy Sports Car Classic and the IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Championship.
