VIDEO: Ford Workers Donate $562K to United Way Campaign
Ford workers in Windsor are donating big to the United Way Campaign.
They donated more than $562,000 to the 2018 campaign, which is up by about $2,500 compared to the previous campaign.
"It's spectacular," says Unifor Local 200 President John D'Agnolo. "Our membership, the leadership, they all come together. It is not easy, you think about the canvassers talking to people every day asking them to donate some money."
He says the increased contribution by local Ford workers shows that workers feel secure in their job.
United Way Board Chair Matt Brannagan is grateful to see the donation increase.
"It is phenomenal to see the numbers go up. Ford is a company that recognizes that they are a neighbour and simply neighbours taking care of neighbours and the people that put the time in to canvass and the people who donate, it can't be understated."
Ford Site Manager Tony Savoni says the increased pledge shows the workers and management work as a team to help the community.
Employees at Penske and Leedak are also part of the group contributing to donation.
It puts the 2018 United Way Campaign at $4.4-million.
The goal is $5.4-million.
