VIDEO: MacKenzie Tour in Full Swing at Ambassador
Day one of the Windsor Championship is nearly over at Ambassador Golf Club in LaSalle.
Current leader Nathan Jeansonne tied a course record with his first round, shooting a 9-under for a final score of 62.
He started on the back 9 today and says things just went his way.
"I came up on number 18 - my 9th hole - and I've shot 29 twice and I've never shot 28, so I thought ok, lets shoot 28, surely enough I made a four footer so, it was nice," he says.
American golfer Anthony Maccaglia just qualified for the PGA Canada event on Monday and shot a 7-under in his first round.
He tells AM800 Sports, he's really enjoying playing at Ambassador
"We had a nice day getting out in the morning, first off, fresh greens, not too much wind, so we've probably had the easiest wave so far," he says. "The course is in great shape, I can't say enough about it."
Charles Wang shot an 8 under on his first round and is currently tied for second and says his short game helped him on Thursday.
"The green is so pure out here and if you can start the putt on line, it's either going in or burning the edge and I got lucky. All the putts were sinking so that's why I made a lot of putts."
The four-day tournament continues through July 7th.
