VIDEO: Man Arrested in Windsor's Fourth Homicide of the Year

Windsor police have made an arrest in the city's fourth homicide of the year.

Officers were called to the 600 block of Moy Avenue just north of Wyandotte Street East at 10:45 a.m. Friday.

Police say an adult woman was found dead inside.

The Major Crimes Branch was called in when the death was deemed suspicious, but the cause of death has not been released.

The death was ruled a homicide and a man was identified.

The suspect was arrested without incident on Monday and police say his name name will be released once charges are formally laid.

Sergeant Steve Betteridge tells CTV Windsor the suspect and the victim were known to each other.

This is the fourth murder investigation in Windsor in 2019.

33-year-old Alexander Mackenzie of Windsor is charged with first degree murder last month in the death of a 64-year-old unidentified woman on Mill Street.

Two parents -- a 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man -- were charged in early June after the death of their baby. The family lived in a home in the 100 block of McKay Street.

Gerardine Butterfield, 63, was also found dead in her apartment at 591 Wellington Ave. in May. There are no suspects in that investigation.
