VIDEO: Mother Charged with Attempted Murder

Windsor police have released more details following an attempted murder in the city over the weekend.

Police were called Saturday at 2:40pm to a restaurant on Tecumseh Rd. East for an assault where officers met with a 33-year-old woman who said she had been assaulted by a 16-year-old boy.

She confronted the boy inside the restaurant accusing him of stealing some of her property.

The boy had left before police arrived.

The woman did not want to provide a statement to police and left in a red Dodge Nitro.

About 20 minutes later,  police responded to a pedestrian struck by a SUV near Hawthorne Dr. and Lauzon Parkway.

"Officers arrived on scene and located a 16-year-old male pinned up against a building by a red Dodge Nitro.  Officers recognized this as the same Dodge Nitro from the earlier call," says Sergeant Steve Betteridge.

Witnesses say the vehicle jumped the curb at a high rate of speed, drove past a playground through the courtyard and chased a teenager before crashing into a home, pinning the boy.

The 16-year old boy was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

AM800 News has learned the woman and boy are a mother and son.

AM800 News also confirms the teenager remains in critical condition in hospital.

Maria Chouinard, 33, from LaSalle, is charged with one count of attempt murder.
