There are 140 new Canadians walking around Windsor-Essex.
As part of Citizenship Week October 8-14, three citizenship ceremonies took place Wednesday, two in Windsor and the other in Leamington to welcome the residents to the 'Canadian family.'
Wednesday morning at the Immigration Refugee Canadian Citizenship office on Walker Rd, 19 countries were represented when 52 Canadians took the citizenship oath.
Gian Paolo Pasini came to Canada from Italy six years ago and came to Canada to follow his heart.
"It is going to be something that I cherish forever, I'm grateful to the country for granting me this beautiful thing to become a Canadian, so thank you Canada."
Gerard Abi Saab came to Canada from Lebanon four years ago and says it's an honour to be Canadian.
"I feel like Canada is a free country, a country that respects every human being, you can be yourself."
Following the oath in both English and French, the new citizens received a certificate and sang O Canada.
