VIDEO: Tecumseh Native Involved in University Hockey Brawl
A university hockey brawl that prompted an investigation and will likely lead to a number of suspensions, may have started with a derogatory comment directed at a sexual assault survivor.
That's according to a statement from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.
A fight broke out in the third period of the game between St. F.X. and Acadia last Saturday night in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
It lead to the ejection of five Acadia players, eight from St. F.X. and both head coaches.
St. Frances centreman, Tecumseh native and former Windsor Spitfire Sam Studnicka, says he was the target of the comment and later issued a statement saying sexual assault is a very serious issue and there is simply no place for shaming sexual assault survivors.
