Walkerville Crossover Now In Service
The City of Windsor has flipped the switch.
The new pedestrian crossover in Walkerville is now in service.
It's located on Wyandotte St. East at Chilver Rd.
The crossing is right across from the Twisted Apron restaurant.
Owner Katie Robinson says she's super excited the crossover is now operational.
"Now our customers probably won't feel like they're playing a game of Frogger trying to get across the street to come and eat at the restaurant," says Robinson. "I feel that people will be more incline to walk through Walkerville. They'll be able to cross the street easily. They'll be able to go from different businesses, to store to spending more time here now."

She adds one of her employees used the crosswalk Friday morning and was also most hit.
Robinson says motorists need to stop when the lights are flashing.
"Educate people when the lights are flashing please stop," says Robinson. "Had she crossed she would have been hit by two cars. Also pedestrians to be a little bit aware off some people may not know what a crosswalk is and take your time crossing, don't just walk out thinking everybody knows and they're going to stop."
The city approved the crossover in April.
The cost of the project was $69,000.
Councillor Chris Holt used his ward funds for the project.
He also received ward funds from councillors Bill Marra and Rino Bortolin.
