WATCH: Habitat For Humanity Fundraiser Helping Single Mom
A Habitat for Humanity renovation project is working to help a single mom and her twin daughters.
A fundraiser is being held at Tecumseh Mall's SkyZone with a Jump Start the Build evening set for Tuesday from 4pm to 9pm.
As heard on CTV Windsor, Holly is looking to give her girls a safe home after a challenging separation from their father. A former Habitat home has opened up for Holly on Janette Ave., but not before she puts in 500 hours of sweat equity as the home is in need of renovations.
Holly is ready to pick up a hammer to give her 14-year-old girls a new home.
"We've jumped through a lot of hurdles, we've had a long journey and we're not living in a great situation by any sort of means," she says.
Holly says a new home will feel like the start of a new life for herself and her girls.
Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex Executive Director, Fiona Coughlin, says Holly's story hits close to home for her as she was young mother herself.
"When I chose this field, it was, 'I hope I can help another young mom like people helped me,'" says Coughlin. "And so, this is what I dream for."
The project on Janette Ave. represents the 63rd build for Habitat for Humanity in Windsor-Essex.
