Windsor-Built 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan Production Temporarily Halted For U.S Market Only

Unifor Local 444 isn't concerned about a temporary halt of production of the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan to the U.S market.

FCA U.S has confirmed to U.S dealers that production will be temporarily suspended from September to November at the Windsor Assembly Plant.

But Unifor local 444 President Dino Chiodo says production of the Caravan will continue for the Canadian and Mexican markets.

"There are some regulatory concerns in the U.S that Fiat Chrysler is trying to work through and as soon as they get that resolved, they will be shipping to  the United States as well," he says.

"There is no shutdown for production, everything will continue to operate, it is just a matter of working out some of these regulatory items that U.S states has with some of the components for the vehicle."

Chiodo says the company doesn't see this as a long-term problem so they are trying to rectify it.

He can't get into details about the regulatory concerns in the U.S

He says there is no talk about shift adjustments as a result and no impact to production of the Pacifica.
