Windsor-Essex County Health Unit Confirms One Person Has Died From The Flu
Windsor-Essex has its first confirm death related to the flu.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is not releasing any further information about the death.
Last year, there were six deaths related to the flu.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed admits the province is in the midst of a challenging flu season.
He points to the latest reports from the Canadian Flu Watch program which indicates the influenza outbreaks in long term care homes and seniors facilities remains significantly higher for this time of the year compared to previous years.
Earlier this week, Windsor Regional Hospital declared its first flu outbreak of the season.
At one point at the Ouellette Campus, there were 21 flu cases.
