Windsor-Essex Receives $3-million In Cycling Infrastructure Funding
Windsor has received some provincial funding for cycling infrastructure.
Through the Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling Fund, the city is getting $1.7-million for bike paths and other projects.
Windsor had applied for the money and submitted 13 possible projects on Rhodes Dr., McDougall and North Service Rd. by the Fogolar Furlan Club.
"With the grant application we put in for 13 projects," says Executive Director of Operations Dwayne Dawson. "We are waiting to hear back on which one of those has been approved for us to spread the money through."
He says given Windsor's population and the number of cyclists, the amount is a "fair representation."
Essex County received $655,920 while Amherstburg Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore, Leamington and Tecumseh will share in more than $636,000.
