Windsor Fire BBQ Raises Money For Local Charity

Windsor Fire and Rescue held its first carwash and barbeque in support of Transition to Betterness Sunday.

The event features firefighters holding down the grill at all seven fire halls across the city.

Firefighter Jeremy Soulliere tells CTV News there's tons more to do.

"We're doing a carwash, we have cotton candy, people can come by and see the fire trucks and do a station tour, there's some cupcakes and just some little fun things for the kids to do," he says.

He says the department is glad to give back.

"We work alongside the community, we're always out trying to keep everybody safe but being able to go beyond that and help people in need, that's why a lot of us do what we do," says Soulliere.

All money raised goes to the Windsor Firefighter Benefit Fund and Paediatric Programs at Transition to Betterness Windsor-Essex.
