Windsor Police Search For Suspect After Attempted Abduction

The attempted abduction of a seven-year-old city boy has Windsor police asking the public's for help.

On Wednesday night around 8:30pm, a woman told police she heard her son speaking with a man in their apartment on Sycamore Dr., near Meadowbrook Ln.

She confronted the man, who was a stranger and escorted him out.

Constable Andy Drouillard says the suspect may have broken into the apartment through a window.

"Our officers spoke to the mom and the son and we learned the suspect tried to get the boy to leave the apartment," says Drouillard.  "So that's very concerning and that's why we took measures such as an extensive search of the area trying to speak with witnesses and neighbours and we continue to investigate this serious incident.

According to Drouillard, the suspect is described as white, 30-35 years old with a disproportional build, stocky on top with skinny legs.

"He was wearing black and white shorts, no shirt or shoes, which leads you to believe he may live in the area," says Drouillard.  "Another person that we spoke to believes he saw someone matching that description walking a dog in the area so there's that information that leads us to believe he may live in the area."

Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor police or Crime Stoppers.
