Windsor Police Service To Mark Major Milestone

The Windsor Police Service will celebrate a major anniversary this year.

The service is turning 150-years-old and Chief Al Frederick says that makes it one of the oldest in Ontario. "I think it is an awesome story that we have been working with our community on behalf of public safety for 150 years and have been doing it very well, so I am happy to be a part of that."

As part of the celebration, Frederick says they plan on sharing some of the history of the Windsor Police Service with the community. "I think when we look at the stories and even the initial by-law, it talks about what they hired the first chief constable to do, which was protect against rum running and things that do not exists today. I think it is going to be a marvellous piece to revisit."

Details about the celebrations to recognize the anniversary should be released over the coming months.
