Windsor Regional Hospital To Receive First Provincially Funded PET/CT Scanner
Windsor Regional Hospital is receiving the first provincially funded PET/CT scanner.
Normally, scanners in hospitals had to be funded locally by donations, fundraising or hospital operating funds.
"This is an amazing announcement for patients we serve in the Erie-St. Clair LHIN and beyond," says Hospital CEO David Musyj. "In addition, it is always great to be first!"
A PET/CT scanner will focus on cancer patients and can also support cardiac and neurology patients.
Musyj says it plans on having the scanner operational in or around December 2018 after a procurement process.
It will be located at the Met Campus near the MRI and will share the same waiting room.
It is also moveable to the new acute care hospital.
