Wings Win First Game At Little Caesars Arena
The Red Wings doubled up the Minnesota Wild 4-2 last night to win the first regular season opener at Little Caesars Arena.
Anthony Mantha and Dylan Larkin scored less than a minute apart to put Detroit up 2-0 in the second period.
Joel Erikkson Ek and Chris Stewart scored 48 seconds apart early in the third to tie the game for Minnesota but captain Henrik Zetterberg and Martin Frk each had a goal later in the period to secure the win.
Jimmy Howard turned aside 37 of 39 shots on goal, including all seven he faced during the power play.
The Wings opens a four-game road trip tomorrow night in Ottawa against the Senators.
