Zaitsev Requests Trade and Trouba a Hot Commodity
Trade talks are heating up in the NHL.
With just a few weeks to go before the draft in Vancouver, there are some big names being tossed around.
Toronto Maple Leafs GM, Kyle Dubas earlier this week granted a trade request for defenceman Nikita Zaitsev.
“That will be our goal, to try and find a fresh start for him – for his own personal and private reasons,” Dubas said Thursday.
Someone the Toronto Maple Leafs may be interested in is restricted free agent defenceman, Jacob Trouba
The 25-year-old from Rochester, Michigan, played 82 games for the Winnipeg Jets this past season on a one-year deal worth $5.5-million.
According to TSN's Trade Bait Board, restricted free agent Mitch Marner is in the 25th spot and needs to sign a deal with the Leafs before July 1st at which time other teams would have a chance to give him an offer sheet.
Dubas called Marner "Priority No. 1." and says he is confident the two sides can get a deal done before the deadline.
