UPDATE: SIU Investigating Fatal Police-Related Shooting in Tecumseh

The province's Special Investigations Unit has released more information on a fatal shooting involving the OPP in Tecumseh.

According to a release from the SIU, OPP were called to a home at 605 Estate Park around 10:15pm Friday night for a, "man in distress."

The SIU says there was an altercation between police and a 48-year-old Tecumseh man inside the home that resulted in an officer discharging his firearm — the man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Three officers were injured during the incident, but all three were treated at an area hospital and released, according to the SIU.

Crime scene tape was put up around the home and what looks to be a blood stain could be seen on the front driveway.

Anyone who may have seen something is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.

The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
