Information from caller helps police find hit-and-run driver in Cole Harbour
RCMP say information from a caller helped them locate the suspect in a Cole Harbour hit-and-run investigation on Wednesday.
Police say they received a report around 2:30 p.m. of a female driver that had struck two parked, unoccupied vehicles on Colby Drive in Cole Harbour before leaving the area.
RCMP say the caller had recorded the make, model and colour of the vehicle, a description of the driver and the direction of travel.
Police say officers used the description given by the caller to locate the suspect driving on Greenwich Drive and after initiating a traffic stop, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested without incident.
RCMP say they determined the 15-year-old female from Cole Harbour had taken the vehicle she was driving without consent and did not have a valid driver's licence.
The suspect was released into her parents' custody and charges are pending.
There were no injuries reported in the incident.
