Ontario man arrested in Cumberland County during seizure of illegal cigarettes
A 29-year-old man from Johnstown, Ontario has been arrested after the seizure of 240,000 illegal cigarettes in Cumberland County.
Service Nova Scotia says the man was taken into custody on Monday and a vehicle was seized.
The province says the estimated provincial tax value of the cigarettes is $66,048 and federal tax value is $50,400.
Cumberland District RCMP assisted Service Nova Scotia with the investigation.
The accused has been released on conditions and is due in Amherst Provincial Court on September 10th to face charges under the Revenue Act, Excise Act, and Criminal Code.
