Truro Bearcats cap 21st season at team banquet

The Truro Jr. A Bearcats capped their 21st season in the Maritime Hockey League with a banquet Tuesday night at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.

Owner Stu Rath, team staff, volunteers, the players, and their families were among those in attendance as the curtain closed on the 2017-18 season.

Entering the year as defending league champions, Truro finished fourth in the Eastlink South Division at 28-20-1-1, but fell in Game 7 to the Yarmouth Mariners last week in the first round of the playoffs.

A number of team awards were handed out by Coach/GM Shawn Evans at the banquet, and previously announced league honours were also acknowledged.

Eight Bearcats graduated this season, those born in 1997, with each receiving their jersey and giving a speech to the assembled crowd.

In an emotional end to the evening, 19-year-old Noah Archibald announced his retirement from hockey after four years with the Bearcats.
