Police say the victim lost control of a car while going around a turn on Highway 201 and the vehicle struck a utility pole.

A retired police officer and bystanders assisted until RCMP, volunteer firefighters, and paramedics arrived on scene.

The car was heavily damaged and overturned in the ditch, and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.
