Advance polls open for liquor plebiscite in Colchester, Annapolis counties
Advance polls are open Friday and Saturday for a plebiscite in District 8 of Colchester County on whether to allow the sale of alcohol in their community.
The polls run both days from noon to 8 p.m. at the Central North River Community Centre on Hiram Lynds Road, with voting day on Tuesday.
The question on the plebiscite is: "Are you in favour of the sale of liquor in your municipality in accordance with the Liquor Control Act?"
Similar plebiscites are also being held Friday in Districts 3 and 4 of Annapolis County.
There have been 40 similar plebiscites across the province over the last 20 years and Andy LeBlanc of Elections Nova Scotia says most of them approved the sale of alcohol.
