Alleged abduction in New Glasgow did not take place: Police

New Glasgow Regional Police say an abduction that was alleged to have occurred last weekend did not take place, and a woman has been charged with public mischief.

Police received a report around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday that an unknown man assaulted the victim in the Aberdeen Business Centre parking lot near the Giant Tiger, forced her into a Dodge Durango, and travelled to Blue Mountain.

New Glasgow Police and RCMP determined through the course of their investigation that the abduction didn't happen.

In a release, police say there's no need for the public to be fearful of any abductor in the case.

An investigation into an alleged assault in Blue Mountain is continuing.
