Application dates for annual Cape Breton Moose Hunt

Nova Scotians can apply for the annual moose licence lottery starting today.

The province says 345 licences will be available this year in five moose management zones within Victoria and Inverness Counties where moose hunting is permitted.

Eligibility requirements include qualifying as a resident of Nova Scotia, possession of a Nova Scotia Wildlife Resources Card and being at least 18 years old by September 17.

According to the Department of Lands and Forestry, hunters that have held a moose hunting licence in the last five years, 2014-2018, are not eligible to apply for a licence this year.

Applications can be submitted online until midnight on June 7 and you can pay with a Visa or Mastercard, or applications can be made from a landline phone and the $9.25 application fee will be billed directly to your landline phone bill.

Online applications can be made here.
