Arrest warrant issued for man alleged to have stolen volunteer firefighter's vehicle

A 34-year-old Pugwash man is wanted on an arrest warrant in relation to the theft of a volunteer firefighter's vehicle in the Oxford Junction area last weekend.

Police say Bradley James Barton has been charged with several offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, four counts of theft under $5,000, and mischief over and under $5,000.

Barton is described as white, standing 6'1" and 270 pounds with a shaved head and blue eyes.

He also has tattoos on most of his body, including his face.

Members of the public are asked to not approach Barton if he is located, and call police or Crime Stoppers.

The RCMP say the theft of the volunteer firefighter's vehicle happened when he stopped on Thompson Road to help Barton, who was involved in a collision with a vehicle that he is alleged to have stolen earlier that day.

Isaac Smith told CTV Atlantic that the car was located on Monday in Amherst, though it had sustained some damage and both his wife's purse and the vehicle's licence plate were missing.
