Bible Hill, New Glasgow among communities receiving beautification project funding

Bible Hill and New Glasgow are among 27 communities across the province benefiting from a $500,000 investment in projects to create more inviting public spaces.

In a press release, the province says through the Beautification and Streetscaping Program, Municipal Affairs and Housing partners with municipalities to fund projects in communities such as landscaping, interpretive and entrance signs, lighting for public spaces and public restrooms.

Chuck Porter, minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing says, "We want to support the development of attractive and inviting public areas where our residents and visitors are enticed to spend time enjoying what our communities have to offer."

According to the release, the Bible Hill Banners and Boundaries Project will receive $22,000 while the New Glasgow Downtown Revitalization Project is getting $20,000.

The Fundy Discovery Site in Colchester County is also receiving $20,000.

The projects being funded are as follows:

  • Town of Port Hawkesbury, Signage and Wayfinding - Destination Reeves Street, $20,000
  • Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Louisbourg Waterfront Beautification, $25,000
  • Town of Yarmouth, Downtown Beautification, $20,000
  • Municipality of the County of Annapolis, Bridgetown,  Granville St. Parking Redevelopment Project, $20,500 
  • Town of Berwick, Berwick Beautification Project, $20,500 
  • Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Downtown Sydney Beautification - Charlotte Street, $20,000 
  • Municipality of the County of Inverness, Port Hood Streetscape and Beautification, $14,750 
  • Municipality of the County of Inverness, Whycocomagh Streetscape Beautification Planning, $20,500 
  • Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Port of Sydney Visitor Experience Improvement Project, $20,000
