Boat Harbour remediation project open house in Pictou Landing Tuesday
The province's Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) department is holding an open house on the Boat Harbour remediation project Tuesday evening.
Treated effluent from Northern Pulp has been flowing into Boat Harbour for years, but legislation was passed in 2015 to close the Boat Harbour treatment lagoons by January 31, 2020 and clean up the site.
The province has set aside about $133 million for the remediation project and estimates it will take until at least 2024 to complete.
TIR says Tuesday's open house at the Pictou Landing Fire Hall will give people the opportunity to learn more about plans for the upcoming pilot testing & the Boat Harbour clean up.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
