Canadian Red Cross aids families after Stellarton Fire
The Canadian Red Cross says no one was injured after a fire gutted a duplex in Stellarton yesterday.
The aid agency says the fire in an older two-story building was reported around 1:00 a.m. yesterday at 87 and 89 Acadia Avenue.
The fire caused extensive damage to the building, including a collapse of most of the roof.
Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross have arranged emergency lodging through the weekend as well as food, winter clothing purchases and other basics for a woman and man from one unit.
The couple from the second unit was assisted with clothing and food purchases but has made arrangements to stay with friends for the time being.
