Cape Breton First Nation posts federal email saying drinking water isn't fit for baths, clothes

A Cape Breton First Nation has posted a federal e-mail saying their drinking water isn't fit to drink, bath in or wash their clothes with.

A Health Canada officer says in the note that the water's concentrations of Manganese and Iron at Potlotek are too high to meet Canadian guidelines.

Band members are being advised to bring water jugs to the hall to receive drinking water.

Last year the federal government said a new treatment plant is being built for water treatment at the community.
