Cape Breton Fudge Co. recalling Cape Breton Coal candy
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says Cape Breton Fudge Co. is issuing a recall of its Cape Breton Coal candy.
The agency says the candy contains walnuts that are not declared on the label and consuming this product can cause a serious or life-threatening reaction to people with walnut allergies.
The recall, triggered by the company, affects 45g packages of the candy whose packaging does not contain any product codes or a UPC number.
The CFIA says it is conducting a food safety investigation which may lead to the recall of other products.
The agency says there has been one reported reaction associated with the consumption of this product and anyone with Cape Breton Coal candy in their home should discard it or return it to where it was purchased.
