Cape Breton police investigate fatal hit and run
The RCMP in Cape Breton are investigating a hit and run that killed a 54-year-old man.
Police responded to a 911 call around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday that a pedestrian had been struck on Highway 125, near Exit 8 in Mira Road.
They say the preliminary investigation indicates the man was on the highway when he was hit, and that the passing vehicle failed to stop.
The victim was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
RCMP are looking to speak with the driver of a grey Volkswagen, which should have damage to the front passenger side.
Highway 125 was closed westbound between exits 7 and 8 for several hours as an RCMP Traffic Analyst attended the scene.
