Cargo plane off runway at Halifax airport
The Halifax Stanfield International Airport says four crew members have been taken to hospital with minor injuries after a cargo plane went off the end of a runway early Wednesday morning.
The Boeing 747-400 SkyLease cargo aircraft, arriving from Chicago, Illinois, went off the end of a runway upon its scheduled landing at 5:05 a.m
It's not clear what caused the accident.
Originally, the airport reported there were five crew members onboard at the time of the landing, but have since clarified there were four onboard.
The main runway is now open, but, according to the Halifax Stanfield website, a number of flights in and out of the airport are still being impacted.
Old Guysborough Road has been closed to local traffic between Oldham Road and Tower Access Road as part of the RCMP’s investigation into this matter. Traffic will be redirected.
