CBRP officer faces two charges of assault
A 34-year-old member of the Cape Breton Regional Police (CBRP) is facing two charges of assault stemming from alleged domestic violence incidents.
The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) was contacted by the force about a domestic assault against a 33-year-old woman by one of their officers on October 21st.
Constable Kristopher Karl Planetta was arrested by CBRP and released without charge on an undertaking to refrain from contact with the victim.
The two assault charges were laid today in Sydney Provincial Court.
One count stems from the alleged incident on October 21st, the other from an incident alleged to have occurred on February 19th, 2017.
Cst. Planetta is due to appear in Provincial Court in Sydney on December 11th.
